Activities:

Your main activity will be direct work with children in kindergarten or school, providing them with personal support in all of their activities (Morning community circle, practical activities, physical activities, relaxation techniques, music therapy, art therapy, snoezelen therapy etc.) You will also support the pupils personally and help the teacher during classes such as maths, writing, reading, music, art, craft, practical education - cooking etc. You will also be part of activities outside the kindergarten and school, such as excursions, trips, minigolf, swimming and other sport activities. Among all of these activities, you will help the pupils with movement around the school, dressing or at mealtime. You are more than welcome to use your gifts and skills in any of the classes or activities. If you are a creative person, the decoration of classrooms or hallways is always appreciated.

Events throughout the year:

During the year, you will have the chance to participate in performances with the students and pupils within the school and for other institutions and organisations and for parents, for example so called Radovánky or various Christmas or Easter celebrations, Mother’s Day, New Year’s service etc.

Growing through challenges:

The challenges you may face and grow through are:

  • Most of your co-workers don’t speak English - You will have to learn the Czech language ‘on the go’, yourself, as well as in Czech lessons, you will need to find new ways of communicating
  • Overcoming the fear of working with children with disabilities - you will learn how to be unafraid of helping people with disabilities.
  • Overcoming various prejudices – learning how to keep an open mind and how to work personally with each pupil or student.
