How is Rika doing?

Some volunteers have already left, however some of them are still here...Rika, how is it going during summer?

Ahoj, my name is Rika and I volunteer in Salome with kids with disabilities. Normally, the kids come to us after school for 60-90 minutes each but now in summer🌞 the program is a bit different. Some kids still come to their weekly activities but the weekly timetable changed a lot due to the school holidays.

In summer we go on a trip with the kids every Wednesday. On the trips we visit different cities and practise activities like going to a restaurant🥙, taking the train🚆 or navigating in a city🏛️. In the beginning of August, we will have a special week with the kids where we do a trip every day.

But not only my task at Salome changed with the summer but also my free time in Czechia. Many volunteers in our group had projects for 10 month and left in the end of June which was very hard for me since this people became close friends💚 for me over the last month.

The summer is a great opportunity to travel in Czechia and abroad. In the beginning of July Käti my co-volunteer invited me to visit her and her family in Estonia where I spend a lovely week. Another trip I did was going to Croatia🏝️ with my Flatmate Marta, now that we are back, we are enjoying the summer life in Cesky Tesin by going to the lake, the swimming pool, meeting the other volunteers and eating ice-cream. : )(Rika, Germany)
