Mirka: Gvantsa and Mari, how was your "Day with" in Ostrava? Did you enjoy?
Gvantsa and Mari:We decided to visit SILOE in Ostrava where Buse works. I was extremely looking forward to this visit because Buse and I are volunteers in similar fields (elderly people,etc.). Since all of us wanted to make this day different for the clients, we decided to organise a cooking activity and baked very delicious Khachapuri with them. While tasting we started representing our country - its landscapes and cities, history, geography, and answered their questions. In all, they enjoyed the presentation and thanked us wholeheartedly.
Overall, it was a good way to break my routine and seek new ideas somewhere else. When Buse showed us around her workplace and explained everything, I gained new perspectives which I can implement in my volunteering project.
Mirka: Buse, how was it to be hosting your "volunteer friends"?
Buse: Having Gvantsa and Mari in my placement and getting to know more about their culture was a really good experience. My clients loves to explore new cultures, traditions and they love to try different foods. So we decided to cook a traditional dish from Georgia. Which is Khachapuri its a traditional Georgian dish of cheese-filled bread.
My clients loves cooking so we cooked together with them. And then Mari and Gvantsa did a presentation about Georgia. They showed us beautiful places in Georgia. Clients were really interested in about Georgia and they asked some questions to them. Clients and also my coworkers really enjoyed both presentation and food.
