Afternoon activities in Pohoda

"It has been four months now since a volunteer from Romania joined our team. He surprised us with his Czech language and thanks to this, he is in direct contact with our clients every day and he is a great help to us.💚

The clients liked F. very much, also because there is a male element in the Club after a long time. I knew from the beginning that we would get along, F. is very communicative, has a good sense of humour and most importantly is actively involved with the clients. He is not afraid to approach them himself and make contact with them, which is the most important thing for us, as you are with the clients all afternoon. F. plays board games with the children, we do various activities ⚽️🏓🎻🎨🎲 together and he helps us with the events we plan for the clients each month.

At the very beginning of volunteering with us, F. and I talked about what all he will be doing and we planned together one mini-project for each month, which he is in charge of all by himself. One day it was talking about Romania, then cooking Romanian food🥮, a Romanian language lesson, and we still have a treasure hunt in our garden where we will spend almost the whole summer. F. is also free to come up with an activity on his own and do it on any day of the week.

What does our afternoon look like? Clients go together with a volunteer to play something, while playing they talk about what's new in school and so on. During the game they explain the rules to each other. F. gives them hints and tips and tries to motivate them to play, to be active. This is what our day at the Club looks like, unless there is a group event or activity. Sometimes we get out with the clients, either for a walk or for educational event. In the summer, when school is closed, we also go on out-of-town trips. Recently,  on Earth Day🌎,  we went to a nearby "forest park" together and cleaned it up a bit.

We are very happy 🙂 to have F. with us. We have become friends. The pictures will give you a little idea of what it looks like at our place.
