Before your departure and after your return from the host country, you will take part in pre-departure and evaluation seminars in order to consciously prepare for and then reflect on the learning process.

In the host organisation, you will be supported and led by a supervisor who regularly evaluates the course of your service. You will also have a mentor to help you to understand how the people and culture “tick” when you are not working.

Another key role is played by the voluntary service coordinator. In addition to coordinating the INVYT programme, they also organise supervision sessions with you and support the learning of both you and your supervisor.

You will:

• work 5 days a week, 6 hours a day,
• have 2 days off each week and 2 additional days of holiday each month,
• receive pocket money and food allowance as well as accommodation,
• be entitled to an internet connection,
• have your visa and residence permit expenses for volunteering covered,

and

• you cannot leave the country after one year and not speak the language (at least a little bit), that’s why you will have a paid Svahili course for 90 minutes a week
• you will cover these expenses yourself:
  • The costs to/from the selection weekend, to/from the pre-departure seminar and to/from the evaluation seminar.
  • Other expenses, if specified.
