INVY Europe

INVY Europe

Europe

INVY stands for “International Voluntary Year”. When going abroad to another European country from Czechia, you will become a volunteer in the social, diaconal, educational or environmental field.
This programme is co-funded by the programme European Solidarity Corps or by a national voluntary service programme. The European Solidarity Corps is a programme of the European Commission that helps young people between 18 and 30 years of age take part in projects that benefit communities, either abroad or in their own country.

Both we and our partner organisations share a mission to ensure space for your personal growth and learning. In your hosting country you will have the support of local supervisors, mentors and coordinators who will journey with you.

How about practicalities?*

You will:

  • work 5 days a week, around 30 - 40 hours per week,
  • have 2 days off each week and 2 additional days of holiday each month,
  • receive pocket money and a food allowance,
  • live either individually or in a community,

and:

  • your travel costs will be reimbursed to you (tickets to/from host country, tickets to seminars and other expenses if specified),
  • you may not leave a country after one year and not speak the language (at least a little bit), that’s why you will have a paid language course!

* these can differ depending on the project you will be involved in.

Support:

  • We will prepare you for the project with a pre-departure seminar where you will meet other volunteers (1 - 3 days).
  • During the project we will be close to you and support you through regular online supervision meetings.
  • After the project, you will be invited to an evaluation meeting where you will have the opportunity to share your experience with others (1 - 3 days).
  • It doesn't end with the project - if you feel like it, you can walk further with us and become a part of alumni network - collaborate with us on other projects, spread volunteering or become a mentor for volunteers!

Slezská diakonie is a member of EDYN, which is a network of ecumenical Christian voluntary service programmes that send and receive volunteers worldwide. The programmes provide opportunities for long-term (and occasionally short-term) voluntary service in social, environmental and educational institutions and church congregations. We have many years of good experience exchanging volunteers with our partners who are members of this network. But we also have great partners outside of this network and we will always make sure we are sending you to an organisation we trust.

You can always find the opportunities for volunteering on our partner’s websites, which you may want to specify your application. However, take into account that the final decision has to be made and confirmed by all the participants of your potential journey - you, the sending organisation and the hosting organisation.

For an overview of current projects in Europe, please contact us by e-mail or or by filling the application form.
